Guitarist, composer, teacher.
Self-taught, at the age of ten he began playing the clarinet, then goes to the guitar. Born in Orsara Di Puglia, he moved to Bologna to join the faculty of science statistics, then leave to devote himself completely to music. He won the city's most important competition called Iceberg 98 and for some years devoted to Brazilian music. During the years in Bologna is in contact with many musicians, notably with pianist Antonio Ciacca. Important experiences, including record , with Bruno Tommaso Orchestra in the years 1997 to 2007. Barry Harris attended seminars from which they receive the basics of harmony and jazz improvvisation.
In the first full maturity follows the Diploma level in the Jazz at the Conservatory "GB Martini "in Bologna and later the Diploma Level II (Degree in Jazz) at the Conservatory" A. Buzzolla "of Adria.
Today, Lucio is a traveling musician in Italy and the USA.
Since 2004 he performed at festivals and clubs worldwide as a leader such as alternating drummers Rodney Green, Joe Farnsworth, Ulysses Owens, bass players like Paul Gill, John Webber, Doug Weiss, Marco Panascia, pianists such as Antonio Ciacca, Andrea Pozza, Luca Mannutza, Spike Wilner, Greg Burk, Hammondist like Tony Monaco.
In his career he also played with Lee Konitz, Benny Golson, Joey DeFrancesco, Billy Harper, Jerry Bergonzi, Rick Margitza, Lew Tabakin, Joe Magnarelli.
It just released his latest CD "It's All Right With Me" with Lee Konitz, his reference point as an improviser.
Also intense teaching activity, and has taught jazz guitar at the Lagos Jazz Festival (Portugal). Since 2004 he is Director and Professor of Jazz Guitar Seminars International Music Jazz Music Orsara, arrived at the XXIII edition. And 'Director of Tuscia in Jazz workshops and La Spezia Jazz. He taught for three years at the Conservatory of Cosenza and one year at the Conservatory of Rovigo.
